Open-source software

The programming code is entirely available to read, modify, compile or suggest changes in it’s human readable version before compilation. Anyone can help write open-source software (OSS) using distributed revision control systems like Git and Subversion, so many large projects have hundreds of different developers committing changes. Linux is an open-source operating system and ecosystem which allows many different flavors of Linux to exist simultaneously under different names like: Ubuntu, Mint, RedHat, CentOS, etc.
